Corinium Museum

Posted by on 15/10/2012

On Friday Oak Class went to the Corinium Museum in Cirencester. Oak class split into groups and went to explore the museum. We were all looking for things from our story of Maximus the Centurion.

We found:

A gladius (short sword) and a shield.

Lots of arrows

Armour

Pictures of Round Houses

Lots about Celts too, including some pictures of them covered in blue war paint with their hair slick with lime and urine.

We even found the name Maximus on one display.

As well as this we found out about Roman Villas, moasic floors, central heating (hypercaust), bathing and Roman towns.

In our work shop we dressed up as Roman citizens, played Roman games, made mosaics and looked at Roman food.

We had a fantastic day and lots of fun!

We saw a Roman on a horse. It was fun playing Roman games and also dressing up. We sketched different pieces around the museum and then we got on the coach to go back to school. Thank you Mr Sandall, Mrs Crewe, Mrs Croker, Julia and Crofton’s mum for taking us.
